Sweco Completes MLM Group Integration as the Business Targets UK Growth

Engineering, environment, design and regulatory consultancy Sweco UK has completed the integration of MLM Group into the business to expand the services and expertise it provides to the UK and Ireland market.

Sweco acquired the firm - one of the UK’s largest, privately-owned engineering, environmental and building control consultancies - in 2019. The integration now brings MLM Group under the Sweco brand.

BAM Nuttall and Sweco in New Partnership to Upgrade British Research Antarctic Stations

Construction expert BAM Nuttall, with design consultants Sweco, have won a tender for a new 10-year partnership to take forward an ambitious programme to modernise the British Antarctic Survey (BAS) research stations.

Commissioned by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), this new partnership provides the framework to deliver a wide range of sustainable construction projects. Over the next decade, projects could include new scientific support buildings, laboratories, accommodation, upgraded recycling and waste management facilities, and runway enhancements. The partnership will also explore renewable energy options and decarbonisation.

Antarctic Science Hub Takes Shape Amid Complex Construction Season

A specialist construction team is making the 11,000km journey home to the UK after successfully completing the groundworks for a new state-of-the-art polar research building at British Antarctic Survey’s (BAS) Rothera Research Station, Antarctica.

Foundations for the new scientific support facility, the Discovery Building, were laid and perimeter wall erected this construction season. The new energy-efficient facility will support polar scientists who undertake vital research into climate change and biodiversity. The Discovery Building is part of a major programme commissioned by UKRI-NERC to modernise the UK’s Antarctic Infrastructure.
