Sweco donates new defibrillator equipment for community groups

First published by East Ayrshire Council

East Ayrshire Council’s Health and Safety team has recently taken delivery of 15 new defibrillators and cabinets, which have been kindly donated by Sweco UK in support of the Council’s ongoing Community Defibrillator Initiative.

The initiative seeks to provide free access to community accessible defibrillators and cabinets for local community groups and clubs in East Ayrshire.

So far, 34 defibrillators and cabinets have been donated to community groups and clubs across East Ayrshire, and this latest donation by Sweco provides scope to support even more community groups and clubs with this life-saving equipment moving forward.

Councillor Neal Ingram, East Ayrshire Council’s Spokesperson for Community Safety, Roads and Transportation and Community Cohesion welcomed this most recent donation.

He said: “We are hugely grateful to Sweco UK Ltd for providing such a generous donation in support of this initiative. The success of this scheme depends entirely on the generosity of companies holding contracts with East Ayrshire Council under community benefits provisions and so far we have been able to donate 34 defibrillators and security cabinets free to community groups and clubs across East Ayrshire.

“This initiative is open to groups and clubs across East Ayrshire and I would encourage applications from any local community groups and clubs who would like to receive this equipment.”

Chris Fallen, Active Travel UK Department Manager for Sweco said: “Sweco is delighted to donate 15 defibrillators to be distributed in East Ayrshire communities. We pride ourselves on our abilities to connect with the local communities in which we work and when this initiative was presented to us we were only too happy to get involved. One of our core values is working with our clients to “transform society together” and we are hopeful that this donation is a step in the right direction to achieving this.”
