Sweco Graduate Scheme FAQs

What do you look for in an application?

Applications that demonstrate a clear interest in Sweco and the work we do. If you have done your research it will show. We’re also looking for colleagues who can learn, adapt and who are curious about doing things better.

Am I allowed to apply for more than one role at a time?

We want you to select the role you are most interested in, so we limit candidate applications to one application only. You should therefore take your time to provide as much information as possible when completing your online application.

What are your minimum academic requirements?

To be eligible for the graduate development programme you must currently be studying for an honours degree, ideally in a STEM subject, and be on track for a 2:1 or higher.

I have some industry experience…can I still apply for your Graduate Scheme?

Our Graduate Scheme is aimed at candidates with less than two years’ relevant industry experience, if you have more than two year’s relevant experience this opportunity is unlikely to offer you progression.

If you have two or more years’ relevant experience, opportunities at Assistant Engineer or Assistant Consultant level may be more appropriate for you – take a look at our latest vacancies to see if we have opportunities in these roles.

Can I make any changes once I have submitted my application?

No, unfortunately, you will not be able to make any changes to your application once this has been submitted, remember to check your application carefully before submitting.

Can I apply for positions in the UK if I need a work permit?

Yes, we welcome applications from all candidates. However, there are restrictions if you are not resident in the UK. You will need to ensure you have full eligibility to work in the UK before making an application.

If you are unsure of your eligibility to work in the UK, please visit the UK Visas and Immigration website.

I have a disability, should I declare it?

As a Disability Confident Employer, we are committed to ensuring our recruitment process is inclusive and accessible for all applicants.

You will have the opportunity to tell us about any reasonable adjustments. If you have any concerns related to disability or reasonable adjustments, you can contact our team at Earlycareers@sweco.co.uk

Any information used to make reasonable adjustments will not be shared with our hiring teams without your consent or used in relation to any other element of your application.

When will I know if my application has been successful?

You’ll receive an email acknowledging receipt of your application within 24 hours of submission.

We We aim to let you know if you are through to the next stage within 30 days of submitting your Application, however the whole process can last up to 5 months in total if you’re an early applicant. We’ll aim to keep you informed throughout this time, but due to volume we are unable to respond to individual request for status updates

My application was rejected at the first stage, can I get feedback?

Unfortunately, due to the volume of applications received, we are unable to provide individual feedback during early stages of our recruitment process.

However, the most common reasons for applicants not to be progressed beyond the initial application review is that their qualification does not match what we are currently look for.  Each year we receive many more high calibre applications than we have opportunities for.

I wasn’t successful after the assessment centre; can I get any feedback?

We encourage all applicants to request feedback if their application is unsuccessful following an assessment centre. W

e believe feedback is an important part of the recruitment process and will help you in your further search for a suitable role. If your application doesn’t proceed following your assessment centre, we will give your personal feedback over the phone.

When will my references be checked?

All offers of employment are subject to references. You will be sent an email to your personal account and you will be asked to complete a reference questionnaire.
