Interview With Jordan Hillard On His Apprenticeship With Sweco UK

For National Apprenticeship Week Jordan Hilliard, a junior technician in the Transportation team in Leeds, talks about why he chose an apprenticeship and what he likes about working at Sweco.

Why did you decide to go down the apprenticeship route?

I chose to go down the apprentice route as I believed that I could learn better from getting hands on experience to further my career.

Why did you chose Sweco?

I found Sweco through the Government apprenticeship website and was impressed with Sweco website and had an even better impression when I came and visited the office in my interview. I felt that this was somewhere I would love to work.

How have you and your role progressed since being at Sweco?

While I been at Sweco I have learnt to work as part of the Transportation team here in Leeds and have developed my skills on lots of different software to produce engineering models and drawings. I have also helped with designs and hope to develop this further.

What support have you been given whilst at Sweco?

I have a mentor that helps me day to day and shows me what I need to do to improve and further my career.

What do you like most about working at Sweco and about your job?

I like working in an environment where everyone is willing to share their experiences and help me further my career.

What have you been working on since you joined us?

I have worked on a few schemes including the A1 Leeming to Barton and M20 Lorry area. Within these I have helped to develop drawings, models and 3D visualisations which have been presented to the client.
