Sweco appointed to deliver Urban Growth Company’s Engineering & Technical Advisory contract
The UK Central Hub is expected to deliver significant economic, environmental and social benefits for the West Midlands and beyond. Large scale investments, such as the HS2 Interchange Station at the Arden Cross development site and the transformation of Birmingham International Station on the West Coast Mainline will play a key part in the area’s transformation.

The Urban Growth Company (UGC) is a special-purpose delivery vehicle created to specifically realise the full economic potential of the HS2 Interchange Station and related infrastructure. On behalf of Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council (SMBC) and supported by the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA), the UGC’s ambition is to coordinate, facilitate and lead infrastructure investment to create a globally renowned point of connection and a major engine for economic growth on a regional and national scale.
The Hub is an area of land in Solihull near the M42, which comprises Birmingham Airport, the National Exhibition Centre, Jaguar Land Rover, Birmingham Business Park and Arden Cross, which will be home to the HS2 Interchange Station.
The Hub is one of four economic development areas identified by Solihull Council - along with Solihull town centre, North Solihull and Blythe Valley - which are jointly branded as ‘UK Central’.
UGC is using the Crown Commercial Services (CCS) framework to procure consultancy support.
