SWECO LEAPS 40 PLACES TO BE NAMED TOP TEN UK ENGINEERING FIRM BY NCE
Climbing 40 places from last year’s NCE100 Companies listing, the business was placed sixth in the ranking of the top UK 100 engineering firms, with the judges commending Sweco for its commitment in pushing the boundaries of sustainability and holistic design.
Sweco also scooped the ‘Low Carbon Leader’ award at the London ceremony, following its work on implementing PAS2080 carbon standards across Renfrewshire Council’s £130 million City Deal infrastructure project. The judges also applauded the company for its ‘Carbon Conversations’ programme, which aims to improve carbon literacy across the industry and teach participants to create action plans to reduce emissions in their own specialisms.
The company’s work on the Bloomberg UK Headquarters was also highly commended in the Design Innovator category. Sweco’s scenario modelling programme played a major role in the development being named the highest BREEAM-rated commercial building in the world.
Our structural design work for Galway Wind Farm, the largest wind farm in Ireland, also contributed to being named as a finalist in the Excellence in Alternative Energy category.
The NCE awards is the most prestigious and competitive awards programme in the sector and serves as an independent benchmark for engineering excellence, recognising the most forward-thinking and innovative firms in the industry.
Max Joy, managing director at Sweco UK, said: “This recognition from the leading authority on UK civil engineering cements our position as one of the UK market’s leading players. Our teams approach every project with the same dedication to excellent client service and we continually strive to push the boundaries of design and sustainability. The success we’ve achieved this year is testament to levels of skill, innovation and commitment our teams bring to the challenging schemes we deliver.”
