Sweco shortlisted for two Brownfield Awards
The first category, Best Project Closure/Verification, is in recognition of the Gasworks Project in Fife, Scotland for National Grid Property Holdings. This is a great example of a brownfield site closure through the assessment and management of risk to the water environment – all of which was achieved without undertaking extensive, physical remediation works. Through a sustainable and cost-effective approach, we returned the site for the benefit of the local community.
Hannah Walton, a colleague in our environment team, has also been shortlisted in the Best Young Brownfield Professional category, which recognises young professionals who have contributed significantly to a project or who have shown innovation, business acumen or exceptional leadership skills. During her five years at Sweco, Hannah has worked on a number of brownfield sites, including former chemical works, gasworks, steelwork and aviation sites, as well as been seconded into National Grid Property.
Congratulations everyone. We wish you all the best at the virtual awards ceremony which will take place on 19 November. To see a full shortlist, visit: https://www.brownfielddevelopmentfestival.com/shortlist
