Sweco up for five accolades at major sustainability awards
The prestigious awards recognise the achievements of those involved in the specification, design, construction and management of BREEAM certified buildings – the world’s leading sustainability assessment method for infrastructure and buildings.
The new Bloomberg Headquarters in London is up for the Regional Award for Western Europe along with the Commercial Project – Post-Construction’ award. Sweco provided building services consultancy for the project, including fire engineering and vertical transportation, and introduced a number of ‘firsts’ in UK building services design. These included a water-saving vacuum drainage system – the first on this scale in the UK – and a vacuum drainage system which recycles greywater from basins and showers, which eliminates the use of mains water for toilet flushing.
The 1-9 Seymour Street development in London and the R7 Building – a mixed-use development in King’s Cross – have been shortlisted for the ‘Commercial Project – Post-Construction’ award. Sweco provided mechanical and engineering consultancy services for both projects and delivered additional building services and environmental consultancy services for R7.
The business has also been named a finalised in the BREEAM/Futurebuild Champions Award in the Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) Consultants category
Geoffrey Palmer, Sweco’s Buildings Director, said: “The nominations are a testament to our ongoing commitment to driving sustainability through cutting-edge design. Through close collaboration with our partners, combined with our team’s extensive insight and experience, our buildings consultancy team has helped to set a new standard for sustainability in commercial building design.”
This year’s winners will be announced on Monday 4th March at an awards ceremony at the Hilton Bankside, London.
