Sweco Awarded Five Year Dublin Airport Asset Management Consultancy Framework
Leading engineering, environmental and design consultancy Sweco, has been appointed to an asset management framework by airport operator daa to support optimisation of its current and future asset management activities in Dublin Airport, as it welcomes record numbers of passengers.
Dublin Airport was named as the fastest growing major airport in Europe by Airports Council International (ACI) Europe, in 2016, as passenger numbers increased by 11.5 per cent in the 12-month period, with almost 28 million passengers passing through the facility’s two terminals. In the first half of this year passenger numbers increased by a further six per cent.
As part of its plans to meet growing passenger demand, Dublin Airport has appointed Sweco to its asset management framework to assist with optimising the management of current systems and facilitating investment planning processes for new asset growth.
Peter Chambers, group head of asset care at daa, said: “We’re delighted to appoint Sweco as part of a framework agreement to help Dublin Airport fully utilise its asset base and ensure that it continues to be managed to the highest standards.”
Dublin Airport has already achieved ISO 50001 Energy Standard and was the first airport in the world to achieve ISO 55001 Asset Management accreditation. In addition, it has high ambitions for advanced levels of asset and energy management maturity as it looks to outperform market and regulatory demands. Sweco’s appointment will see the consultancy provide guidance and support to meet these goals.
Sweco will support operational performance, cost and risk data mapping, align to GIS and BIM data structures providing Level 3 maturity and identify innovative ways to improve how it is leveraged in support of high quality and agile business decision making.
Doug Marsh, a technical director in Sweco’s asset management team, said: “We are very pleased and proud to have been appointed by Dublin Airport to conduct a wide range of asset management functions.
“We have significant industrial expertise within our different business units that we can use to support Dublin Airport in meeting the needs of its airline and commercial customers, and supporting its aspiration to become the best performing airport in Europe. Sweco offers a unique and innovative perspective on delivering asset management solutions and developing cultural and process maturity, which will meet the business needs of the airport.”
