Remote Terminal Units

At Sweco we’ve been working with clients, manufacturers and industry bodies to improve Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) design and configuration for the past 25 years, one of very few companies in the UK with expertise in this area.

We are founding members of the Water Industry Telemetry Standards (WITS) Group and provided extensive input into the recent DNP protocol development for a common RTU protocol to enable any field device to communicate with any manufacturer’s top end.

We are uniquely placed to be able to inform and support clients in their asset management strategies, in many cases avoiding entire system replacement reducing cost, risk and time.

Our team collaborate with major RTU manufacturers , using both proprietary products and developing new models for regional systems. Our experts can specify entire systems for both water and wind power, from the required instrumentation through to the power and infrastructure, as well as the communications/media and protocols between local and master stations.
