Throughout its gestation, relevant stakeholders including local communities, authorities, users and investors were involved in transparent collaboration about the development and use of the building. Combined with the need to use local resources, utilities and infrastructure, the aim was to provide an overall best solution.
The business centre provides a mix of open plan and cellular offices, workshops and studios, all accessed via a large ground floor reception which also incorporates a cafe area and seminar room. The facilities offer flexible space for tenants.
The building has been constructed with the environmental, social and economic aspects of sustainability in mind and meets BREEAM ‘Excellent’ standards. It has been designed to make use of the natural assets of its surroundings, including daylight and water, to reduce energy and material consumption and create a better indoor environment. From design, through use and to demolition and recycling, it has been planned with a whole life cycle perspective on both environmental and economic impact.
