An urban redevelopment in Stepney, providing 566 new homes and 3,000m2 commercial space.
Client: London & Quadrant Housing Trust
Service: Buildings, Infrastructure, Advisory & Planning
The project was an urban redevelopment of a brownfield site. There were three phases including a 25-storey central tower with basement, located at the development’s core.
The site is adjacent to the Royal London Hospital and special accreditation needed to be given to the flight path of the air ambulance both in terms of the structure and acoustic consideration.
Sweco were commissioned to provide structural, civil, building services, transport and acoustic services for this project.
We developed a scheme utilising a combination of reinforced concrete and specialist precast structure. The project benefited from offsite manufacturing of elements to assist in expediting the project delivery.
Our engineers used the latest BIM technology to model and deliver design content direct to the precast factory, whilst also providing model schemes to the end user.
