A key element of an economy's success is the ability to transport people and goods, safely, efficiently and sustainably. Sweco’s transportation experts have what it takes to plan, design and construct transport systems that simplify people’s everyday lives. By designing everything from highways and bridges to intelligent transport systems, we improve accessibility for tomorrow’s society. Our team of over 250 transportation professionals located in twelve design centres across the UK, including our most recent office in Cork, Ireland operate across a broad spectrum of markets and clients at every stage of the project lifecycle from initial project planning to final scheme operation and maintenance. Our teams work collaboratively with our clients to deliver innovative, sustainable and cost-effective multi-disciplinary design solutions every day.
With the increased investment to improve the UK rail network, Sweco’s transportation teams are well placed to assist both Network Rail and the Train Operating Companies (TOC) to deliver the current investment plan and to enhance the overall rail experience for all their customers.
Sweco’s engineers are highly experienced in the Network Rail Governance for Railway Investment Projects (GRIP) process, with a specfic focus on delivering railway structures, station improvements, new platforms, track stabilisation, geotechnical solutions, M&E and CCTV systems in the rail environment.
Working in the rail environment requires a mulidisciplinary approach, and our team are highly experienced in leading Interdisciplinary Design Reviews (IDR) to ensure cross discipline holistic design solutions are delivered. With the introduction of BIM this is now undertaken within a 3D design environment.
