M2 Junction 5 Improvement Scheme (Flythrough Animation)

Sweco was appointed by National Highways to redesign The M2 Junction 5 / A249 Stockbury Roundabout to improve journey times and the safety of the junction for all users. The existing junction is one of the top 50 national casualty locations on England’s major ‘A’ roads and motorways and cannot cope with traffic flows.

Project story

Along with the redesign of the junction, Sweco were also commissioned to present the proposals in a visually pleasing and clear format for a virtual public exhibition.

Sweco produced a fly through animation which could be viewed online at National Highways online virtual exhibition. The fly through illustrated a general journey along the scheme, followed by more detailed focussed views of key design features. The animation was accompanied with a voiceover to explain the design and animation.

The flythrough was well received by the client and National Highways. It provided a clear explanation of the scheme, which could be viewed online. It was part of a virtual consultation room which along with the flythrough and still visualisation images, contained a wide variety of information on the scheme. The virtual exhibition room also allowed live interaction with the project team on allocated days for question and answer sessions.
