Project Overview

The Mount Pleasant Mail Centre in London is one of Royal Mail’s largest and busiest sites, generating around 2,000 vehicle movements per day. Royal Mail plan to consolidate their sorting office operations on the 12-acre site which would allow the redevelopment of land into a mixed use residential- led scheme comprising of 700 apartments, as well as commercial and retail uses. It is one of the largest redevelopment sites in Central London, and falls within the London Borough of Camden, and London Borough of Islington.

Sweco’s transport planning team contributed expertise into the site’s masterplan, developed the access and transport strategy, and provided input into the planning application.

As the project continues to evolve, Sweco is developing the design for the operational part of the site, which includes replicating the proposed site layout and undertaking physical vehicle trials. We are also designing the operational part of the site to ensure that the site’s day to day operations are not impacted by the construction work.

Construction should commence in late 2016, with completion scheduled for 2020.
