Project Overview

Sweco worked for Yorkshire Water to replace and upgrade outdated ICA (Instrumentation, Control and Automation) assets. This was to be achieved without interruption to service for customers.

 

The Challenge

Yorkshire Water budgeted to spend approximately £50m as part of the five-year asset renewal programme, to replace aged and life expired monitoring and control assets.

Sweco’s £5m commission is part of the Yorkshire Water Telemetry Consultancy Framework. Successful delivery of this programme will enable the client to meet their regulatory requirements and deliver strategic business objectives.

 

The Solution

Sweco provides an end-to-end approach, managing or delivering key stages to meet project needs, but always ensuring the quality of the data collection and configuration into client systems. Sweco undertake desktop or site surveys; health & safety management including Risk Assessments and Method Statements; definition and preparation of tender documentation; evaluation of tenders and selection of suppliers/sub-contractors; and the supervision and commissioning of site works.

Completion of our duties includes safe and secure hand back to the client, whilst we ensure that asset registration is accurate and complete and that any associated telemetry configuration is tested and signed off.

 

The Result & Benefits to the Client

Sweco is the only supplier to the YW who can offer the comprehensive range of services for the completion of these types of work, with our engineering project delivery expertise combined with our ICA and Telemetry specialities. This helps the YW reduce the risks to service delivery for the communities they serve.

Our heath and safety management is integral to the way we work and ensures an excellent H&S compliance record.
We pride ourselves in the continuous improvements made throughout the framework which have been able to be shared with Yorkshire Water by improving ways of working and making processes leaner and making the capital delivery more efficient.
