CDM Health & Safety Consultancy Services

Sweco has been delivering CDM Principal Designer Health and Safety consultancy services since 1994. Our experts have extensive experience across the industry sectors and offer innovative and creative solutions to safety and health management throughout the whole lifecycle of projects that fall under the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2015. Our collaborative and proactive approach helps to integrate health and safety into design and construction processes, offering extra value and reassurance to both clients and end users.

Our technical competence, cross-sector experience, industry leading processes and ISO17020 accreditation means we are ideally placed to advise on all current Health & Safety regulatory compliance.

Principal Designer/Advisor

  • Manage the co-operation of all other duty holders involved in the project to enable them to effectively perform their duties under the regulations.
  • Co-ordinate design work, planning and other preparation for construction where relevant to health and safety.
  • Advise the client on what pre construction information is required
  • Develop and communicate the pre construction information in an agreed form to those involved in the design and construction.
  • Lead CDM design review meetings/CDM Workshops
  • Coordinate the communication of significant residual risks via the most effective methods
  • Liaise with the Principal Contractor on any design development which may affect planning and management of the construction work.
  • Produce the Health and Safety File for completion of the works.

CDM Client Advisor

  • Obtain the Clients approval to submit the F10 Notification to be given to the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) and updates when required.
  • Provide advice to the client on the health and safety competence and resources of the Principal Designer, designers and the preferred tendering/negotiating contractor appointed by the client.
  • Give advice to the client to ensure that their arrangements for managing the projects are suitable.
  • Advise the client on the suitability of the Principal Contractor’s Initial Construction Phase Plan and ensure that appropriate welfare facilities will be provided during the construction phase.
  • Carry out CDM Site Inspection(s) and report to the Client and Principal Contractor
  • Review the Health and Safety File on completion of the works
