Development Infrastructure

Sweco’s civil engineering team draw on their multi-disciplinary skills to support new development infrastructure with well designed, integrated, sustainable and cost-effective solutions.

Our development infrastructure team provides our clients with support across a wide area of engineering services, from site feasibility studies, securing consent for development, designing the required enabling infrastructure through to the procurement, supervision and handover of the works.

Infrastructure, integrated

Our consultants work on infrastructure for both brown and greenfield land developments. Their skills are valued in carrying out projects such as site investigations prior to construction of a residential estate, carrying out drainage assessments as part of the approvals process, and contributing towards the tender preparation and contractor procurement in large commercial projects.

Sustainable development infrastructure

The delivery of sustainable development is one of the key challenges for the 21st Century. Sweco’s engineers play an important role in key sustainability aspects such as SUDS and optimising use of site materials to reduce the need for importation and off-site disposal. Our transport planning team, who balance the need for vehicular access with national and local policy requirements to limit parking and promote non car ‘active travel’ modes (public transport, cycling and walking), act as an integral part of a comprehensive Access Strategy.

Sweco also has significant capability in the urban energy and renewable energy sectors and can provide feasibility advice, detailed design and construction support services for low energy and renewable technologies such as Wind Power, Solar PV, Combined Heat and Power (CHP), District Heating (DH), Biomass, waste-to-energy plants and Anaerobic Digestion. Our energy offering is UK-wide and operates as an integral part of any wider multi-disciplinary engineering/design team. This success has been achieved through the adoption of a collaborative partnership approach to the development process, engaging and working with stakeholders, consultants and local communities.

Together with our clients and the collective knowledge of our engineers, consultants and other specialists, we co-create solutions to address urbanisation, capture the power of digitalisation, and make our societies more sustainable. With international multi-disciplinary teams, we can call on the right insight and technical capability at the right time from across Buildings, Infrastructure, Advisory & Planning and Compliance.
