Process Safety Management
Sweco provides clients with bespoke process safety management services tailored to their requirements and compliant with current statutory regulations and relevant industry best practice. Our process safety leaders guide project teams through IChemE’s 7-stage Hazard Study Process and where required LOPA Studies and ALARP Assessments to establish whether a design has sufficient layers of protection to meet tolerable risk targets.
Collaborative compliance
Sweco understands that process safety is about preventing a catastrophic failure causing serious injury or killing the workforce and / or the public (often multiple). We support clients in developing and delivering design processes that ensure compliance with Statutory Regulations and their own delivery processes by setting, documenting and managing the ‘basis of safety’ throughout the project life cycle. Sweco carry out design COSHH Assessments, DSEAR / HAC Assessments, Explosion Studies and other statutory compliance risk assessments as required for each project.
Sweco operates across the Water, Energy, and Building Services sectors and use this experience, knowledge and learning to support and promote client’s Process Safety requirements and develop and improve systems and techniques in line with best practice.
DSEAR Assessors
Sweco provides competent DSEAR Assessors and services to support clients with Hazardous Area Classification assessments and achieving compliance with regulations.
Sweco thoroughly analyse substances relevant to the installation, using published data and extensive experience to understand material properties. Any flammable substances are reviewed in context, by considering the working environment, operating conditions, and ventilation arrangements, before grading the source of release, establishing, and documenting the type and extent of explosive / flammable zoned areas, and specifying the necessary equipment protection.
Hazard Study Facilitators
Sweco provide clients with bespoke Hazard Study and health, safety, and environmental risk assessment services, covering the end to end project lifecycle, tailored to their requirements and compliant with relevant industry good practice.
Sweco’s trained facilitators and scribes lead the clients project teams through the IChemE’s 7-stage Hazard Study process. Access, Lifting and Maintenance (ALM) reviews can also be incorporated into the hazard and risk assessment process and Sweco can facilitate dismantling and demolition hazard and risk review (Hazard Study 7) if required by the scope of the project.
