Sweco UK & Ireland welcomes Heather Whitwell as new HR Director

Sweco UK & Ireland is delighted to welcome Heather Whitwell as our new HR Director. Heather joins Sweco with extensive HR leadership experience across global organisations including EE, BT, Barclays, Capita and Legal & General.

Throughout her career, she has partnered with senior leadership teams to create environments where people can thrive while supporting sustainable business growth.

Known for her collaborative, commercially minded and people-centred approach, Heather brings significant expertise in organisational development, talent, culture and digital HR. She is passionate about building inclusive, high-performing workplaces where colleagues feel valued, supported and empowered to grow.

Speaking about joining Sweco, Heather said:

During her first few months, Heather will focus on listening and learning, meeting colleagues across the business, building relationships and gaining a deep understanding of Sweco’s culture, strengths and ambitions.

Heather added:

“For me, HR is about creating an environment where colleagues feel supported, valued and able to grow, while ensuring our people strategy enables the business to achieve its ambitions.

I enjoy bringing people together, listening carefully and finding practical solutions that create positive outcomes for both our colleagues and the business.”

Outside work, Heather enjoys spending time with her family, travelling and experiencing different cultures. She’s also a keen runner and cyclist, enjoys political podcasts, and has a growing interest in how AI can enhance the way we live and work.
