Sweco retained as Wessex Water Design Partner for AMP8 investment programme
We’re extremely proud to have been confirmed by Wessex Water as one of the capital delivery design partners that will help deliver its significant investment over the next five years and beyond.
The water and sewerage company is teaming up with new and existing collaborators to roll out its ambitious programme of work throughout its region – which includes Dorset, Somerset and Bristol, most of Wiltshire and part of Gloucestershire and Hampshire – within the AMP8 investment period (2025-30).
Our retention as design consultancy partners will see us play a major role in the new framework agreements which have been designed to encourage the collaborative, flexible and agile approach required to support the industry as it grapples with an £88 billion investment programme across the country.

In addition to traditional ‘grey’ construction projects, Wessex Water is continuing to innovate and have greater focus on alternative solutions designed to deliver against its core value of creating a ‘Better Environment’ – including a commitment to deliver 36 nature-based solutions to treat ground influent storm overflows.
Across Sweco’s multi-disciplinary team of teams, our experts are perfectly placed to support that evolution to ‘new world’ of water infrastructure design and management as we combine ecology, landscape architecture, environmental services and wider sustainability consultancy with proven technical excellence in engineering and asset management.
Wessex Water’s Engineering and Delivery Director Paul Lewis says:
“These awards will enable a much wider reach for the delivery, training, development, secondments and apprenticeships across the partnership for a programme that is more than double the size of our AMP7 (2020-25) commitments.”

Sweco’s UK Water Director Lindsey Taylor comments:
“Securing the AMP8 Wessex Water Framework is a significant achievement for Sweco. I’m proud of our Water South team’s dedication and expertise, which have been key in strengthening our partnership with Wessex Water. Over the next five years and beyond, we look forward to driving innovation and delivering sustainable solutions, further enhancing our relationship to create positive outcomes for both Wessex Water and its customers.”
Sweco Framework Manager David Baynes adds:
“It’s great to be able to continue the strong relationship we enjoy with Wessex Water and to be part of what promises to be a challenging but ultimately extremely rewarding AMP8 programme of works. We look forward to being part of a successful team with common values and vision that will continue to make a real difference to the environment we all enjoy and live in.”
With a firm focus on driving the green transition, Sweco is committed to supporting clients across both the regulated and non-regulated water sectors and beyond, working collaboratively with forward-thinking partners like Wessex Water and its supply chain to implement innovative systems-based, catchment solutions that improve water management, enhance water efficiency, and protect our vital water resources.
