Building Performance Evaluation, Analysis & Reporting
Integrated building performance evaluation, leading to accurate data-led analysis and clear reporting, is critical to meeting the increasing demands for comprehensive sustainable development disclosure. At Sweco, our experts can provide guidance and class-leading solutions to help you ‘assess and address’ across your portfolio.
The importance of Buildings ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) lies in its ability to provide a common framework for sustainability and resilience. This framework offers organisations a structured approach to enhance sustainability and inclusiveness, especially in the face of frequent crises and disruptions. By adopting such a framework, organisations can move beyond reactive risk management to strategic, forward-looking practices. This is crucial for protecting and enhancing sustainability in the built environment.
Organisations that can control, make sense of, and visualise their sustainability data are better equipped to attract green funding and capitalise on reputational benefits. This data-driven approach supports decision-making processes, such as whether to renovate or rebuild, by providing insights into the environmental and economic impacts of different options.
From air quality and acoustics to circular economy construction and operational optimisation, Sweco’s experts can guide you through – and help implement – all elements of assessment and appraisal to support you in meeting BREEAM, WELL, ESG, DGNB, EDGE, HQE, CSRD, EU Taxonomy, LEED, PAS 2080 and other disclosure requirements.
At Sweco we never settle for minimum standards when advising on and implementing building performance opitimisation. We aim to raise the bar for green building design and use, incorporating advice from different sustainability bodies in our thinking alongside global insights from across our built environment and sustainability teams.
We add unique value by drawing on decades of experience in not only meeting BREEAM, WELL, LEED and other framework benchmarks – but helping to proactively set the standards for their certifications and accreditations in the schemes we deliver.
How we built an ‘above and beyond’ sustainability assessment tool for the European Investment Bank (EIB)
Sweco’s global teams have collaborated with the EIB to create an innovative ‘scorecard’ tool that applies standardised sustainability benchmarks for new buildings and renovations, to enable more informed decision-making for investment applications.
BREEAM – the Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method – is a third party certification used to assess buildings in over 70 countries.
Sweco can provide both in-house certified BREEAM Accredited Professional and BREEAM assessors across an array of BREEAM certification schemes. Our BREEAM consultants offer full-service expertise from new construction through to refurbishment, fit-out and ‘in-use’ both in the UK and internationally.
WELL building certification supports planning policies around health and wellbeing, enhances positive social impact, and adds value across your ESG and other reporting streams.
With a trusted team of WELL Approved Professionals, all also proficient across BREEAM, LEED, CSRD and HQE requirements, Sweco’s unique team of teams can meet your healthy building assessment and design consultancy requirements under one roof.
LEED certification evaluates a building’s sustainability in areas such as energy efficiency, water usage, and materials used, while WELL certification assesses factors such as air quality, lighting, and occupant comfort. I
Sweco’s experts can help you navigate the rigours of LEED assessment, by advising on – and designing around – the requirements of its framework.
In addition to evaluations and reporting our multi-disciplinary, global expertise means we can be your single trusted partner for sustainable building solutions – with a full portfolio of planning, design, engineering and compliance service all available under one roof.
Whether your building is at concept stage or requires an efficiency ‘refresh’, we can interrogate structural and operational elements of your assets to determine strategies for optimal performance with reporting and compliance challenges at the heart of our thinking.
The green transition – a joined-up evolution from linear, carbon-dependent practices to circular, resource-efficient alternatives – is critical if society as a whole is to mitigate climate change, protect biodiversity, and unlock a sustainable future for all.
We understand that a successful green transition requires the adoption of new technologies, alongside adaptation to new ways of thinking and best practices that reduce our collective carbon footprint, cut greenhouse gas emissions, preserve (and revive) natural resources, and address the effects of climate change through net zero strategy.
We also know that bringing together ‘sub-transitions’ in energy, transportation, urbanisation, water and industry will be critical in combating the negative impacts of human activities on the planet. Specifically, the bigger picture concept of a green transition encompasses renewable energy, sustainable and active travel, circular economy methodologies, and nature-based solutions.
Our sustainability champions work alongside our building services and structural engineering consultants to define clear sustainable goals and targets influenced by the UN Sustainability Goals.
Together with our clients and the collective knowledge of our engineers, consultants and other specialists, we co-create solutions to address urbanisation, capture the power of digitalisation, and make our societies more sustainable. With international multi-disciplinary teams, we can call on the right insight and technical capability at the right time from across Buildings, Infrastructure, Advisory & Planning and Compliance.
